Beth Carey, User Experience Design + Product Management

Beth Carey, User Experience Designer & Manager, Resume

Beth Carey
Senior User Experience Designer + Product Manager
New York, NY 10003

  • 10+ years experience hands-on work and leading strategy and production of tidy, thorough UX deliverables and best practices:

    • Site maps, process flows, wireframes, functional specifications

    • Lead user discovery and stakeholder workshops

    • Usability testing

  • History of pleasant and effective team leadership working with UX people, visual designers, developers, executives and end-users.

  • My specialty and preference is for large, complex projects, video, and interactive TV/video.

  • Enough of a working familiarity of HTML, CSS, Javascript, Java, C, X-Code, SVN and versioning to converse with developers about plans, progress and launches; I especially like working with developers and engineers since I started as one.

  • I energetically think on my feet to keep coming up with new ideas if old ones aren’t working; Flexible enough to know when something isn’t working and tactfully lobby for the best solution.

  • Daily, I keep up on current important ideas in UX, front-end development, visual design, and technology arts and sciences.

  • When the agency handed off the pattern library, in Sketch, I worked, and still work, hands-on to get them "developer-ready" with responsive breakpoints and functional specifications. Some logged-in user logic and functionality is quite complex.

  • Work in typical 2-3 week agile sprints with a group of full stack (no dedicated front-end developers) developers and a PM to rebuild and improve the website based on the design patterns in Episerver.

  • Mentor UX interns and a UX person in another department.
